"Kalimera Greece" - Porto Heli, Greece

We are wheels up for our next destination - "Kalimera, Greece!"which means "good day" or "good morning" in Greek. A phrase we heard throughout our time here.

We landed in Athens but transferred to Porto Heli, Greece, on the mainland, for our stay at the stunning Amanzoe - our home for the next 3 nights.

On arrival into Athens.

Jim is still on prist duty

Tijl and Lizzie and Danielle being whisked away for their helicopter transfer to Amanzoe.

Tijl is ready! The group is scheduled to transfer by road to the Amanzoe, a 2hr45min scenic drive, but with a helicopter transfer as an option - cutting travel time to just 25min - some jumped on the possibility. The whole group will transfer out of Amanzoe by helicopter for our departure out of Greece.

Having always wanted to visit Santorini, Howard and his crew took a commercial flight from Athens to the picturesque island. Santorini has strick parking restrictions during the summer months that forbid overnight parking for general aviation - thus the commercial flight. We will see them again on our departure out of Athens.

Also while in Porto Heli, our group of earthrounders will finally be complete - we will be joined by the two remaining TBMs! We will finally be all 6!

Treats and drinks in the van! We are ready for our scenic drive to Amanzoe.

We enjoyed a delicious meal, seaside, at Kavos, to break up the drive.

The perfect first glimpse of Greece

Oops, our driver got pulled over for speeding - 8 miles over the speed limit. He was issued a 25 euro ticket and we were on our way in no time!

In not time we arrived at the Amanzoe - set in the hillside near Porto Heli, the property is everything you would imagine and more. We settled in just fine...

Good morning Amanzoe!

What better way to explore a coastal area than by boat? We chartered a Pershing 62 for the day in order to see the highlights of the area.

On the agenda was a dip in the Mediterranean, a drift-by of Spetses and a visit to famous Hydra, an island off the coast of Porto Heli with all the Greek feels you can imagine. The island has no motorized vehicles leaving our legs or donkeys to get us around.

Spetses, see you tonight!

lunch at Omilos in Hydra

After an amazing boat day, we took the water ferry from Costes to Spetses for al fresco dining in the old port of town.

Water taxi time!

Dinner at Tarsanas Fish Tavern

Our final day at the Amanzoe was left open for everyone to relax and enjoy the property. Most enjoyed some much needed r&r.

As a final farewell to the beautiful area, we enjoyed a bbq dinner beach side serving up all the delicious greek salad, kebabs and skewers we could ask for. It was a beautiful evening.

Sadly it's already time to leave - and our stay in paradise has come to an end. Today's flight is the first one where we will all wear our pilot uniforms - I wonder what the pilot of the helicopter will think when he sees 5 fellow pilots walking his way!

Traffic jam on our way to the airport!

Athens airport bound! Flight time  - 25 minutes.

Don took on co-piloting duties!

Say cheese....or squeeze!

and we're off!

Dirk is all smiles over the scenery

Athen's in sight!

Happy crew!
