And, We're Off!

Up, up and away! Today marks the start of our Around the World Journey with our first leg taking us from Quebec City, Canada to Goose Bay, Canada. Our original plan was to fly to Kuujjuaq, however, a broken down fuel truck forced us to switch our plans and head to Goose Bay instead.

And we're off!

A pit stop for lunch in Goose Bay to fill up before the next leg.

From there, our flight continued to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, for an overnight.

Not only did this first day of flying mark the official flying start of the Around the World Journey but it also marked the first leg of the Transatlantic crossing - a dream for many pilots.

Kangerlussuaq is a simple destination, to say the least. The Hotel Kangerlussuaq is adjacent to the runway and airport - a pilot's heaven - but not necessarily a luxury choice for your fellow travelers. Temperatures are much cooler than when we left Quebec City, with our fingers freezing as we were fueling the planes. We aren't complaining though seeing has this is likely the only cold weather we will see on the Journey until we reach northern Russia!

A pro-tip for you fellow aviators: pre-mixed fuel is hard to come by outside of the United States, plan on carrying prist with you on any international flying to Europe and Around the World. Plan for enough cans to cover the entirety of your Journey as it is not readily available at airports. You will likely need to handle adding the prist into the fuel yourself, as many fuelers refuse to take responsibility during fueling.

Our quick overnight takes us on-wards to Reykjavik, Iceland tomorrow!
